Data Centre Metrics refers to the records of data holdings,
other resources, customer transactions and products of the Data Centre. The
quantitative measures of these fundamental attributes are essential to enable
quantification (i.e. actual counting and measuring) of the accomplishments of
the Data Centre.
The Metrics in this document consists of the Dataset Receipt Log, Transactions Log, Dataset Catalogue, Products Catalogue and CD-ROM Collection. The Dataset Receipt Log records the individual datasets that the Data Centre has received. Every item that the Centre has received resides in this Log Sheet. The Transactions Log prepared here is the Data Requisition Form that records incoming data enquiries.
The Dataset Catalogue, in the form of a database, contains the descriptive listing of all the datasets the Center has received, checked, and approved for distribution. This is in the widely used metadata format, MEDI. This ensures compatibility with global systems. The Products Catalogue lists database collections, publications, and atlases of the Data Centre. The CD-ROM Collection is an inventory of the CD-ROM available at the Centre.

The Data Requisition Form represents the transactions log
here. This is shown in
Annex 1. The form has three basic parts comprising the particulars of the
customer or the client, purpose for use of data and the official part that
endorses the transaction.

Datasets
Catalogue
The Dataset Catalogue uses the MEDI Lite Format. The Ghana MEDI Lite Compilation represents the datasets catalogue. View Ghana MEDI Lite Compilation
The Title of the Database is usually not more than 10 words. The short description of the database uses descriptive terms for location and contents. It is usually not more than about 25 words.
The date format is yyyy-mm-dd. Signed decimal degrees
units are used for Geographic coordinates. The ocean/sea name is selected from
the International Hydrographic Organization's (IHO) list of oceans & seas. The
parameters are selected from the Global Change Masters Directory (GCMD) list of
valid parameters. The Agency or Institution where the data can be found is also
recorded.
The person who can supply the data and limitation or
restrictions on the use of the data are also recorded.
