The Information is located within the host institution's Library

Mission

 The Information Centre is to support research by sourcing, acquiring and making available up-to-date bibliographic information to staff, researchers and the public.

Activities

  • Development & Updating of GODC website
  • Development & Updating of Oceandocs-Africa
  •  Cataloguing, Classification & Shelving of Books
  •  Development & Updating of Directories of Freshwater & Marine professionals & institutions
  •   Contributing to the ODINAFRICA Repository
  •   Preparation of Brochures, Posters and Newsletter
  •  Electronic transmission of documents
  •     Interlibrary loan facilitating and  Training.

Collections
 
The information center has in stock books, periodicals and CD-ROMS in the following disciplines:

  • Oceanography
  • Hydrography
  • Marine Biology
  • Fisheries Biology
  • Fisheries Statistics
  • Fishing Gear Technology

The center has more than 700 volumes and receives over 10 current periodicals in Journals by subscriptions, exchange and gifts.

The information center also has in stock special collections on Reports from other center around the world, Theses/ dissertations on all the disciplines. Special reports on oceanography expeditions are also available for reference. CD-ROMS on fish and fisheries database are also accessible at the center.
