The Data Centre
The Data Centre is located
within the Oceanography/ Environment
Section and
is being manned by a well-trained Data Manager. The Data
Centre started its operations in May 2001 after the First
ODINAFRICA - II Marine Data Management Training Workshop held in Casablanca,
Morocco
in March-April 2001.
The formal inauguration of the Center took place in Accra
on the 15th – 16th
August 2002. The First ODINAFRICA - II National Workshop
brought
together
members of the Ghana National Commission for Intergovernmental
Oceanographic
Commission (GNC/IOC), Ghana National Commission for UNESCO (GNC/UNESCO)
and
scientists from other participating
institutions.

The centre is to facilitate
the aquisistion and management of marine data and information, the
dissemination of ocean data products and provision of biliographic
services to a variety of user groups
